Meetings

Reading Abbey is one of six Rotary Clubs in Reading and many more in the Thames Valley region. Our 40 members meet for dinner with a speaker on Thursday evenings and also at social events such as Sunday pub walks and informal family get-togethers. There is also a golf group within the Club.

Fund raising

Through public events such as a golf tournament, a St George's Day dinner, a charity run in Englefield House park and others we raise up to £20,000 a year for charitable projects chosen by Club members. These are primarily local where our support can make a difference. We also contribute to national and international appeals.

Community service

From mock job interviews for school leavers to visiting elderly war veterans and helping primary school children with reading difficulties there's a variety of opportunities for all our members to play their part.

World wide welcome

Other Clubs meet on different evenings, or at lunch time or over breakfast, to suit members’ circumstances.

And wherever you travel, at home or abroad, as a Rotarian you will be welcomed as a friend at a local Rotary Club. There are 1.2 million Rotarians in 32,000 Clubs in 200 countries and any Rotarian is entitled to attend any of their meetings.

Want to join us?

Rotary membership is by invitation but we welcome anyone of any age, race, culture or creed who wants to give back to the community through working together for others.

Come along to one of our meetings as our guest and get to know us better.
